The Haas VF5SS Axis Vertical Mill recently replaced one of our older 4 axis machines. This new machine has the capacity for 51 tools, which means we can virtually eliminate set-up times for recurring parts on this machine, and in turn, reduce lead times.
The Haas VF5 also has a higher spindle speed capability of 12000 RPM and 30hp, versus our old 4 axis machine, which had a limit of 7500 RPM with 20hp. This upgrade in spindle speed allows us to move material much faster than we were able to before.
In addition to reducing set-up times for recurring parts and moving material faster, we will also be able to handle smaller production runs and special requests from customers. This is ideal for customers that want very limited short-run quantities of small to medium-sized products.
